Harvesting time:
- If you are using the corn for grain, cob should be harvested at around 120 days after planting
- The exact time of harvesting depends on the variety used.
- Maize is ready for harvest when the plants in the field are turning yellowish and the moisture content of the cob is 20-25%
- If it rains, maize cobs should be allowed to dry first before harvesting
After harvesting:
- Once the harvested maize cobs are dry, the grain can be shelled directly after removing the husk.

- The grain should be dried on a paved cement surface or on a or tarpaulin sheet until the grain moisture declines to 12-14%
- It is also possible to dry the cob first and do the grain shelling after drying.
- The grains must be placed in appropriate bags to be protected from rodents and pests damage during storage.
